The largest nature and conservation center in Connecticut, White Memorial Conservation Center located on 80 Whitehall Road in Litchfield is hosting their annual Family Nature Day on September 23 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. This annual celebration of Mother Nature is a must for folks of all ages and this years event is chock full of the great presenters! Admission to this event is $6, and is free for kids 12 and under and for members of White Memorial Conservation Center.
Brain Bradley will be here with his beautiful free-flying hawks and falcons. Festival goers will learn about the Foundation's beloved Bats and not-so-cuddly but uber-charming North American Porcupine with Gerri Griswold aka The Bat Lady! Riverside Reptiles' Brian Kleinman is perhaps the greatest mind in reptiles in our state will also be on hand to captivate audiences with his knowledge... you will enjoy learning and visiting his friends that he is bringing along. To round out the fun, get ready to be awed when meeting a Bald Eagle, Golden Eagle, and other feathered freinds with Horizon Wings Raptor Rehabilitation and Education Center! And, if that is not enough fun, Cyril the Sorcerer will whip up environmental magic for kids of all ages!
The day will exude fun with music from the wunderkinds, The Zolla Boys, live animals, nature crafts for kids, guided nature walks, information booths, horse drawn wagon rides, and yummy food provided by The Litchfield Lions Club and AmandaBakes. If you like to shop don't miss the artisans market or a chance to get into a bidding war at the silent auction.
