The Sharon Historical Society has announced a new show in their gallery, No Place Like Home that will run from May 1 - July 7. "No Place Like Home", is  a juried exhibition and sale of artworks which express the artists' conceptions of the themes Home or Family. The definition of the word home means different things to different people. Often "home" describes a feeling as much as a place. For purposes of this exhibition, "Home" and "Family" may be defined as broadly as the artists' imaginations permit. Each entrant is free to express what those words mean to him or her, what they taste like, what feelings they evoke. The show will open with a reception and awards ceremony for artists and the public on May 6 at 5 pm.

The style icon and lifestyle aficionado Carolyne Roehm will judge the upcoming show. Carolyne Roehm has been part of American design culture for over four decades, with a career spanning the fashion, gardening, entertaining, publishing and decorative arts worlds. She has, in addition, been a discriminating collector of art, at one time owning work by artists such as Renoir and Sargent, and is a gifted and accomplished photographer and watercolor artist in her own right.

The Judge will select the art to be exhibited and award cash prizes of $100, $75, and $50 to three pieces. In addition, guests who attend the show's opening night will have the opportunity to select their favorite work of art which will receive the "SHS Crowd Pleaser" award. The Gallery @the SHS invites artists to submit for consideration original works in any medium which respond to, and reflect the artist's interpretation of, the themes Home or Family.

The gallery at the Sharon Historical Society is open Tuesday through Friday 12-4 and Saturday 10-2.
